12 Month Update

Well Lady Baby, we made it a year. Can you believe it? It's been a wild ride, quite the adventure. There's nothing in our lives that have gone unchanged by you joining our family and we're so thankful you did. 

Here's what you're up to at one year old:

• You weigh 21 pounds and are 2 1/2 feet tall.

• You still wear size 3 diapers and 12 month, 12-18 month and some 18 month old clothes.

• You started standing up at 11 months old and took your first steps a few days later at Grandma and Grandpa Power's house in Ventura. Then a few more at Arroyo Verde Park. Our friend Mercy and her kids Kirstin and Cody cheered you on. It was the same weekend you said your first word, "Duck." What a big weekend for you!

• The most steps you've taken at one time is seven. You crawl so fast though, this hilarious beer crawl on your hands and feet, no knees needed, that you're not terribly interested in walking. You're all about efficiency. You love the dinosaur walker Uncle John and Aunt Janelle gave you for your birthday though and can "walk" about five houses down the block before you sit down in the middle of the sidewalk for a rest. 
  
  
  

• You are in a convertible car seat now. This was a necessity since you were ESCAPING from your infant car seat. On the freeway. Crazy girl. I actually had to pull over on the shoulder of the freeway THREE times on my way from Long Beach to Ventura to strap you back in. Crazy girl.

• You "dance" to music now. Well, you sway side to side when you're sitting or standing and bob your head. It's super cute. Your favorite songs to jam to is the theme song to Sesame Street, Elmo's Ducks, and The Elmo Song. You get ecstatic whenever any of them come on. There was some Moroccan type of music playing at Farmer's Market this evening. You were totally digging it. Your dad and I were cracking up, you're just too much cute for us to handle some times! Here you are in action.

• You've started saying more words! I love hearing your little voice. Here are the words you have said in the order you said them (after Mama and Dada of course): Duck, Hi, More, Done, What's that? 
(It comes out more like, Was Dat? while putting your hands out in an inquiring fashion), Hot, and Sos (sauce, as in applesauce). I think your next word will be dog, because every time the dogs next store bark, which is all day long, you mock shock, look around and say, "Was Dat?" My answer is dog and you say daaaa...

• Had a super fun 1st birthday party! 

It was one last horrah at the Roycroft house before we move in just about two weeks here (yikes). Your Grandparents Russell came all the way out from Denver to celebrate with you. You had some fun with your gluten free, dairy free cake, but really loved opening your presents. Which you got absolutely showered with. You're so very loved. And we can't wait to celebrate many more birthdays with you!
